"The Weapon" is about a martial arts enthusiast, Tommy Zhou, that has discovered a means to create solid objects from light -- and invented a superhero persona to promote it, The Weapon! Not believing the legends his grandfather told him as a child, Zhou's inventions unsuspectingly make him the target of a millennia-old assassin cult that's convinced he's unlocked the ancient mystical techniques of the Order of Wu-Shi-'The Way of the Weapon.'
"We believe 'The Weapon' will be an attractive project for both international film financers and Hollywood producers," says Scott Rosenberg. "This property is one of those with enormous franchise potential."

Platinum Studios recently regained the production rights, allowing them to reboot the series and to team up with Canton. The film is set against an undersea civilization that began over 10,000 years ago, and whose presence is unknown to the surface population.
"ATLANTIS RISING has the franchise potential of MEN IN BLACK, which I green lit for Scott while at Sony's Columbia Tristar Motion Picture Companies," says Mark Canton. "I'm looking forward to bringing it to the screen with Platinum as a dynamic, state of the art action thriller."

"In my experience, the Random House Publishing Group is one of the consummate distributors of books worldwide," said Sean O'Reilly, who oversees publishing and animation at Platinum Studios. "Our partnership further demonstrates our ability to market our titles to a global audience."
